Moullinex

DJ, musician and producer Moullinex (alter ego of Luís Clara Gomes) is one of the most promising references in Portuguese electronic music. A creative artist, who came, a few years ago, to prove that electronics can have as much a place in our playlists as pop or rock. His reinvention of the concept of electronic music grew out of the idea that “music that can perfectly live within the boundaries of the dancefloor and still allow for deep introspection on headphones”. Luís Clara Gomes spent his formative years as a scientific researcher in the field of neurology and astronomy, but his obsession with science was the stepping stone into electronic music, where he first stumbled into electronic soundtrack maestros such as Vangelis and Giorgio Moroder and later Air, Stevie Wonder and brazilian MPB. Under the Moullinex alias he first started doing remixes for Cut Copy, Sebastien Tellier, Royksopp and Robyn, among many more, while consistently releasing quality originals through his own label Discotexas, alongside Xinobi, his partner in crime. Four albums ensued: “Flora”, “Elsewhere”, “Hypersex” and the most recent “Requiem for Empathy”.

Xinobi

Xinobi is the stage name of Bruno Cardoso. Born in Lisbon, he studied Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts in his homeland, where he awakened to music. He was part of several bands, having been guitarist for the group The Vicious Five, with which he edited two albums, before ending in 2009. In addition to rock, electronic music is also part of his musical preferences. Alongside with Moullinex, he founded Discotexas – a collective of artists that, in the meantime, became a production company. In addition to his activity as a DJ, Xinobi began to be internationally known for his remixes that he made for Toro Y Moi, John Grant and Nicholas Jar. Over time, he accumulated rehearsals, the result of different themes and experiences, which resulted in the debut album “1975” and later in 2017 he launched the “On the Quiet”. This year, he releases his latest album: “Balsame”.
